Role: IT Support Technician – Office Based (Southampton)

Salary £26,000 – £30,000 (depending on experience)
This is an opportunity to join a well-established IT Support Company, based in Southampton, providing support to a variety of customers across the area. They are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the busy IT team.
This is an office based role, you will be supporting customers via telephone, email and remote support tools. As part of the desktop support role you will get the chance to be hands-on with all server and desktop products, as well as a variety of networking and other components such as routers, printers and bespoke applications.
Full training will be provided and you will be joining an experienced team. For the right candidate there are progression opportunities within the company.
IT Support / Helpdesk Engineer – Essential skills:
- Minimum 2 years’ Service Desk experience in a MSP business
- An excellent knowledge of Microsoft software and technologies including MIcrosoft 365
- Windows 10, Windows Mobile and tablet versions.
- Active Directory knowledge including an understanding of user and computer objects, OU’s, group memberships.
- Basic networking knowledge including an understanding of IP addressing, DNS, and DHCP.
- Understanding of remote access including VPNs and two factor authentication.
- Understanding of printing including direct printing, print servers, and printer configuration.
- Understanding of hardware encryption technologies. Understanding of desktop security and anti-virus, anti-virus, and anti-malware.
- Understanding of software builds and imaging for laptops and PC’s.
- Good knowledge of hardware including laptops, PC’s, printers, tablets, and smart phones
- Experience in Microsoft Azure would be a benefit.
A minimum of 12 months experience in a similar environment is required, either with an IT Support company or within an in-house support department.
Progression opportunities within the company
